Doncaster is serviced by exceptional Communication links, by Road, Rail and Air.

Because of this outstanding infrastructure along with its number one asset, its People, Doncaster has since the year 2000 attracted over £1 Billion of investment, supporting the creation of over 16,000 new jobs.

The Town Council has plans for a £300 million development of the Waterdale area, to include new Civic buildings along with Leisure facilities. The second major project is the development of the waterfront site to include a 90 berth Marina, which will act as a focal point for future development.

Recent Investment in Doncaster:

  • The Robin Hood Airport, re-launched as a Major Regional Airport in April 2005. This £100 million development now employs over 7,000 people and includes a 62 acre business park.
  • The Frenchgate Shopping Centre, now one of the largest Shopping Centre's in Britain. This £250 million expansion project re-launched in June 2006. The major stores in the Centre are: Argos, BHS, Boots, Costa Coffee, Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, HMV, JD Sports, Miss Selfridge, Monsoon, Next, River Island, Sainsbury's, Starbucks, Waterstones, W H Smith and Wilkinsons.
  • The KeepMoat Sports and Events Complex, opened in 2006. This sports complex includes the 15,000-seater stadium, bar, restaurant and conference facilities. The stadium totals 36,000 sq. ft., and as well as hosting many high-profile events, it is home to Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Doncaster Belles Ladies Football Club, Doncaster Lakers Rugby League Club, and Doncaster Athletic Club.
  • The Doncaster Race Course, home to the world famous St Ledger, the fifth and final Classic of the British Flat racing season. The £55 million re-development includes an Exhibition Centre, Top Class Corporate Hospitality facilities, along with additional Race Day Facilities (Restaurants, Bars & Cafe Areas.) The first stage was completed in August 2007. The second phase will include a four star hotel.
  • Doncaster Education City's, first stage opened in September 2006. The first campus is the exciting new £65m Waterfront development in the centre of Doncaster. The Hub, as it is known, is home to some of the best educational facilities in the United Kingdom. The Hub includes state-of-the-art IT facilities, a 100-seat lecture theatre, a 200-seat drama studio and a massive Learning Resource Centre.

The following major companies have based their UK Regional or National Distribution Centres in Doncaster:

IKEA, Next, B & Q, BMW, Tesco, Asda Wal-Mart, DFS, Unilever, Excel Group, Wincanton Logistics, MSAS Logistics, and Power Logistics.

Many National companies have set up call centres in Doncaster including, B.T., Direct Line, E.W.S., UKI Partnerships and the R.B.S.
